One of the things I love about Austin is that it is absolutely the most culturally and religiously diverse place on the face of our little planet. (For those of you outside of the great state of Texas, our motto is 'Keep Austin Weird' … which is a pretty easy thing to do these days…) I love it if for no other reason than this: we've been told to take the gospel to the all the world, but here, the world has come to Austin. Great ministry opportunities…
Today through Monday, the infamous Youth Specialties National Youth Workers Convention is here in Austin. I can't help but wonder what kind of conversations will be taking place down on 6th Street and along SoCo over the next five days as bands, speakers, and youth workers descend on our little city, hopped up on Red Bull and the Holy Spirit.
Some of the people I'll be hanging with, learning from, and worshipping with over the next few days:
Mike Yaconelli
Doug Fields
Vicky Beeching
John Losey
Dan Kimball
David Crowder Band
Hawk Nelson
Marko
Duffy Robbins
Tony Jones
Shane and Shane
Donald Miller
Jars of Clay
Jeremy Camp
Kutless
Thousand Foot Krutch
and Greg Stier
I'll be blogging as I can during and in-between sessions to keep you posted on what's going on. It'll be riveting…
