In 8 hours something beautiful will happen.The doors to our youth center will open wide and students will begin to flood in. The videos will be rolling, the music will be kicking, and laughter, excitement, and hugs will fill in the gaps. More than one hundred and twenty students (plus adults and staff) will be expecting something to happen. They will be consumed with getting here on time, seeing their friends, hearing Pat and Cofield, staying up late and binging on Cheetos and Monsters.
For the past couple of weeks, Steve and I have been consumed with preparing for this weekend: curriculum, t-shirts, recreation, hosts, homes, transportation, backline, registration forms, medical forms, emails, etc. This morning we are consumed with loading in PA equip and practicing the command of 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (pray without ceasing) as we test cables, connections, A/V lines, and lights.
But in 8 hours, we will be consumed by something else. Passion. Adoration. Confession. Gratitude. THAT kind of consumption can change us forever.
Man, I'm ready for that…
