Sunday, Sweaty Sunday

Heather and I headed out early this morning so I could run in the Capital 10K here in Austin. It was great to run alongside almost 20,000 of my closest friends along some great routes and hills in the Capital City.
My finish time was 1:00:34! (Which averages about a 9:46/m pace) If I'd have known, [...]

Pflugerville Idol

Congrats to Jonathan Hankins, winner of the first-ever Pville Idol!
If you weren't there last night, you missed an hour and a half of some incredibly talented students in our ministry! Everyone was amazing–from the bands to the Barbie Girls!
(And thanks to Midaire for the sick logo!)

GodTube.com

Someone had to go and do it.
Someone had to steal the creativity of YouTube and baptize it in the waters of contemporary Christianity. Instead of the 'Broadcast Yourself' tagline of YouTube.com, GodTube encourages you to 'Broadcast Him'. Don't misunderstand me, I'm all for a place that supports a community of homemade Christian videos (however [...]

Visual DNA

Just for kicks, I decided to check out my visual DNA over at Imagini by picking out images that represent aspects of my personality and life. Evidently I'm a WildCat. …something about nature, adrenaline, loving art and expression, and enjoying crowds. Go figure.
Go get yours. It's a pretty cool way to spend 2 [...]

Me and My 10,000

"Most people run a race to see who is fastest. I run a race to see who has the most guts."   - Steve Prefontaine
On Saturday, I officially registered for the Cap 10…along with nearly 30,000 other people. After a Spring Break full of Sea World, the Rainforest Cafe, Mexican food cafes on the Riverwalk, and [...]

Quotable Mondays

This week's Quotable Monday comes from something a friend sent me from over at Dry Bones Dance.
"There are things about me that will never be "normal" and will never be fixed. I will most likely always walk with an emotional limp, although you might have to look close to see it. What's weird is [...]

Runalong now…

I stumbled across a great new (to me) blog this morning, Runalong with pastor mark.
"What's so great about it?" you ask.  A few things..
1. Mark is an ultrarunner, which means, while I'm puffing away at my  10k's and 15k's, he's out running 100k's and logging 250+ miles per month.
2. Mark is Mac user. Nuff [...]

Emerging Austin?

If you don't already know it, here it is: I'm probably one of the strangest 'fundamentalists' you'd ever meet. Why? Because I'm also one of the most 'liberal' conservatives I know. Let me (briefly) give some examples.
I believe that Jesus is God and God is Jesus. That we don't pray to the dead saints, pray [...]

Quotable Mondays

Yeah…I know it's Tuesday…and it's Tuesday NIGHT at that….but such is life.
I've been screaming along at life's frantic pace and forgot to post this great quote from Corporal Benji Varner, 2001 grad of my alma mater, now stateside after two tours of duty in Iraq.
"The struggle of all men is not the sin they can [...]

Organic Dork

Last week, I posted this. I was REALLY excited about seeing Neil Cole on February 27. In fact, I cut another meeting short, jumped in my gas-guzzling, not-so-eco-friendly truck, and cruised downtown to fight for a parking space to see him. I missed my exit and had to backtrack to the association office, but I [...]
