Daniel: Day 4
Posted by tom cottar under theology
Just a quick update if you’ve never done the Daniel Diet before.
Today is Day 4 (of 10) of no bread, no flour, no sugar, and no red meat. The first three days are usually the hardest–your body has to, um, …’take out the trash’ first. Like with any fast, the human body will rid itself of build-up, especially in the beginning of the process. I haven’t weighed myself at all yet, because I’m just not that interested in weight right now. Since I’m back to my running regimen and training for the Scott and White Half-Marathon at the end of October, I’m not sure how all this will turnout.
My dilemma is this: The Diet of Daniel cuts out bread and flour. Two (of my) essential resources for carbs. And when you’re training for a half-marathon, that’s important. So, I’ve been loading up on veggies and fruits and chicken. Trying to get my hands on as much of a loaded baked potato as I can (no bacon, no sour cream). Tomorrow is the halfway mark, so we’ll see.
I really feel incredible. My sleep has already dramatically improved. But there have been times when I felt hungry…probably because I’m not compensating for the calories I’m burning while running (13 miles this week). So, I’ve definitely got to eat more.
If you’re interested in more, let me know. It’s a great, healthy eating plan…and I think I remember something about taking care of our ‘temples’…
