As I posted before, sometimes ridiculous things done in the name of God make my head want to explode. Things like wars. Boycotts. Televangelism.
This time, we're spinning our socks over our heads as an act of worship, while channeling the 80's New Wave/dance pop group Dead or Alive.

I wonder what I do that embarrasses Jesus and His bride….
I could have gone my entire life without seeing that and I would have been more fulfilled. God deserves so much better than this.
Ummmm……no…but makes me wonder if the Kris Kross rap i remade and the He Will Rock You song we did were seen like this. please tell me no…lol

I fast-forwarded through his opening speech (because I didn’t care), to about 1:30 into the video. I saw people spinning things around and thought “ok, whatever….”
And then he opened his mouth.
I don’t know what that video was created, but if it was any time in the last year, all I can say is “wtf?”
If it was before the Flo Rida/Ke$ha version, then it’s not as bad (just awkward singing a song about “getting with” a girl, but to Jesus instead.
If it was *after* the remake, the only reason he would have picked it was because the remake was popular. Unfortunately people these days will think of the remake, which is about giving a blow-job, oral sex, & strippers…not the 80s version (which is only slightly less disturbing.
One shouldn’t pick songs from secular music to remake into songs about/to Jesus, simply because of the nature of the writing in most secular songs. They’re not about expressing unconditional love, adoration, and an undying longing to merely be in someone’s presence (unless it’s the Police’s “Every breath you take” – which is like the stalker’s anthem). Secular music has expressions of very carnal, fun, and “caution to the wind” themes – and simply replacing or appending the words “he,” “she,” or “you” with Jesus/God/Spirit doesn’t make it ok.
